Seven Reasons to Have a Wedding Website

The choice to use a wedding website is all about personal preference. I love the idea, mostly because I am a computer/email communicator. But, here are all of the reasons I think they are worth considering.

Reason #1--RSVP capabilities

The very best reason to consider using a wedding website is that most allow your guests to RSVP online! Just press a button and see responses. (Make sure the site you choose has this capability--I have linked two of my favorite sites at the bottom of this post.)

Reason #2-- Upload Photos

You can upload all of the engagement photos that you couldn't put on your Save the Dates. Why waste those beautiful photos? Let the world see!

Reason #3-- electronic communication

If it is easier for you to communicate electronically, then a wedding website is for you. With mailing list features, you can send information with a press of a button. What if you need to move the rehearsal dinner the day before because your favorite restaurant just closed down? No problem, you have an email list at your fingertips.

Reason #4-- Attachments/ Maps

Attach maps. This saves on frantic phone calls the day before saying they've lost the invitation, and where is it again? All they have to do it check your website. It's right there.

Reason #5--Gift Registries

You can post where your gift registries are so your guests can shop on the go (check their smart phones).

Reason #6-- Events Calendar

Put parties and events on the event calendar. With all of the parties and rehearsal dinner to remember, this will allow your guests to check your site for date reminders.

Reason #7-- Go Green on Save The Dates

Save on paper! If you don't want to send save the dates, send a link instead!

Some Cool Smart Phone Apps

There are several different cool smart phone apps that you may be interested in. One is Craigslist Notifications. Just find the app in your market, and put in wedding for the item to find, under Portland of course. Then you will be notified of all listings! If you need vases, or any other decorations, this is a great place to find them for those of you on a budget and you will be the first to see them!

How to Apply for a Marriage License in Oregon

To apply for a marriage license in Oregon, both the bride and groom must apply in person at any county office. It is a good idea to apply in the county that you live so that you can remember where you applied years later. You will both be required to show valid Oregon ID. Bring $60 cash. They will not take check or credit card. The license is valid 3 days after you apply and for 60 days thereafter. The officiant is responsible to send in the paperwork within 10 days.
